Foreign workers can get hired by an employer in Canada through the Temporary Foreign Worker Program, or the International Mobility Program. Some foreign workers can go on to become permanent residents through other immigration programs.
Temporary Foreign Worker Program:
Employers can hire a foreign worker to fill short-term labour and skill shortages when no Canadians are available to do the job.
The employer must show that there is a need for a foreign worker to fill the job and no Canadian worker is available to do the job, he can show that by filling out a Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA).
